Membership

The purposes of the Society are to:

1. Establish a world-wide network for interaction among nurses interested in Orem's conceptualizations of

2. nursing.

3. Expand, refine, and clarify understanding of Orem's conceptualizations of nursing.

4. Provide avenues for gathering, organizing, and disseminating knowledge developed in relation to Orem's

5. conceptualizations of nursing.

6. Facilitate the use of Orem's conceptualizations of nursing as a basis for nursing education, practice,

7. research, and theory development.Advance nursing science by promoting scientific and scholarship activity.

8. Benefits of Society Membership:Membership in the Society provides opportunities to:

9. Participate in Biennial International Orem Conferences.

10. Network with educators, researchers, practitioners, and administrators utilizing and developing Orem's

11. conceptualizations throughout the world.

12. Communicate through Society Newsletter.

13. Participate in small theory development groups.

14. Access a database on published and unpublished papers on Orem's conceptualizations.

15. Co-sponsor theory and implementation conferences.

16. Access listing of experts and individuals developing and utilizing aspects of Orem's conceptualizations.

17. Participate in regional conferences and educational forums.

18. Access listing of institutions and agencies utilizing Orem's conceptualizations.
